The second part of the Butterflies of Arizon series focuses on some of our most interesting insects. Hairstreaks, blues, and coppers are collectively known as gossamer wings. Thye are small, fast-flying butterflies that are quite colorful and have extraordinary caterpillars. Next we delveinto the metalmarks, so named for their shimmering wing markings. Both families are easily observed in your yard or on a mountain hike.
